Launching of KENDANA, the Malaysian Caregivers Association
On the 8th of August 2024, the Seterra Dialogue 2024 (SeDIA24) National Caregivers Conference unfolded at the M Resort & Hotel in Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur, marking a pivotal chapter in our nation’s journey towards a more compassionate and inclusive future. A highlight of the event was the launch of KENDANA, the Malaysian Caregivers Association, by Seterra Group CEO Rashidi Yahaya. This vital initiative is not just a milestone; it’s a promise—a promise to uplift the standards of aged care and ensure that quality care is accessible to every Malaysian, no matter where they are. With KENDANA, we are taking a significant step towards better supporting our caregivers, the unsung heroes of our communities.
Kendana is an old malay word for "observing" or "caring for" (DBP Dictionary 4th Edition).
Founded in 2024, Kendana Malaysia is a collaborative effort involving healthcare providers, age care operators, government agencies, and non-profit organizations, united by a common goal: to uplift, support, and recognize caregivers nationwide. Caregivers are the heart of our agedcare/healthcare system, providing essential services that often go unrecognized. Kendana Malaysia is here to change that narrative, ensuring caregivers receive the respect, training, and support they need and deserve. As we embark on this journey, we envision a Malaysia where caregiving is not only seen as a viable and respected career but one that is integral to our nation's well-being. Through standardized training, advocacy for fair rewards, and the integration of informal caregivers into the formal health system, Kendana Malaysia aims to transform the caregiving landscape.
